Moving Past ‘Someday’ to a Life of Travel

At least once a week, someone asks how they, too, can live a location independent lifestyle so they can travel more, whether that’s a few more days, weeks or years. Sometimes I give people step by step guides, other times I simply encourage them in their journey.. nearly everyone comes back with “Oh, I wish someday. I couldn’t because.. You’re really lucky.” And it *breaks my heart*.

I can tell you - it’s only 1% luck!

I was born with a beautiful body that does marvelous things: Two legs that WALK, 2 arms that HOLD, fingers, toes, a voice. To have a fully functioning body *is a gift*. My luck stops there. Everything else.. comes down to will power.

As someone whose goal is to encourage you, my followers, to partake in the location independent lifestyle, we need to first learn how to no longer feel “stuck”, that your goals are out of reach. Whether that goal is a 2 week adventure in Rome, a summer abroad, or simply a location independent lifestyle.. the first step is internal freedom. And it is possible. I promise you. Think you have a good excuse? I challenge you to put it in the comments below and let us help you solve it 🙂🙌

I recently listened to Joe Ryan’s episode 82 (Apple or Spotify) titled “Shame and Self Judgment”. He talks about how those who grew up in a shame based family will carry that trauma through their lives, until they release it.

If you’re feeling like expectations of those around you keep you stuck in a cycle of wanting to please, but somehow always feeling like in order to please them, you give up who you are, you sacrifice your authentic self so that you can live the life that is the picture they painted for you.. This is it.

He talks about how perfectionism is a result of shame, the need to feel that everyone approves of your choices, the need to do everything completely right or not at all. Spoiler alert: This is only true if you want it to be 🙌

His message is hard hitting, he does not back down. But it will really help you release those fears, so you can continue on your path to personal/internal freedom and happiness.

P.S. Feel free to inbox me for the link to the episode. It’s 20 minutes, but could change your life.
