From Overpacker to Minimalist: My Guide to Packing Clothes for Solo Female Trave

Packing clothes as a solo female traveler 💃

Understanding what you really need in life comes when you do the solo travel lifestyle for long enough… & you’ll be surprised at how little you need to go traveling for months on end.

It’s wild to think back to my first trips traveling, just what I thought I needed compared to what I’ve learned over the years, becoming a minimalist traveler! I once went away for 2 months with just a small backpack (It wasn’t planned - it happened - & it worked!).

Here’s some of my top travel tips for clothing minimalism, if you’re looking to travel light - which I recommend is really worth it (trust me now, thank me later, or struggle & see how much hassle that is 🥲)!

1. Don’t overpack if you are solo traveling - you are the only one that will be carrying the heavy load. Sometimes, you don’t know where you’ll end up on your travel journey, & sometimes there are A LOT of stairs & even in Europe, quite often, there won’t always be lifts! I have learned this lesson the hard way 😂

2. You’ll learn really quickly how little you actually need. For so long, I would pack too many pairs of pants, in reality, you only need 2. Then when it comes to outfits, you learn what works best together, so you can make lots of options out of few items. You might even notice this now, you do just have clothes that are safe, easy options that you wear more often than any others - pack those.

3. If you have to think “what if I need this”, it’s likely you won’t… & if you do, you can plan ahead & buy something more formal. For an entire year, I traveled with suit pants, in case I needed them, then when I came to finally wanting to wear them, I had lost too much weight for them! So I had to go shopping - which is now what I do instead for these items.

4. Leave clothes you don’t find you’re wearing behind, they don’t need to be brought home to be put in a drawer! (Plus I’ve found the hotel staff usually appreciate them if offered).

There’s so much more to go into here for smart travel & light packing - more posts incoming!
