Huge News for Regular Travelers Like Me! 🌍✈️
A game-changing policy is rolling out automatic cash refunds for canceled and delayed flights. 👀 Yes! CASH!
This change means travel just got so much easier, with way less risk if you consider you’ll be refunded for canceled flights & “substantial” delays (3+ hours for domestic & 6 hours for international travel).
I feel like this has happened to me time & time again in the past so it’s great to see the aviation industry taking accountability with the decision of a flight change, travel credit or a refund being directly in the consumer’s hands.
I do always try to make the most of airport days & layover time - I always feel like I’m so much more productive in the sky without distractions, working offline / figuring out creative flows, then time spent in the airport is so focused and productive because there’s an aspect of limited WiFi for the whole day so I just don’t allow myself to get distracted. And now with this news, delayed or cancelled flights just became a lot less annoying 🥲.
On top of this new law, if an airline charges for additional services like WiFi or seat selection & fails to deliver, they’ll need to refund that too! Then there’s also refunds coming into place for checked-bag fees! 🧳 If the bag isn’t delivered within 12 hours for domestic flights or 15-30 hours for international flights.
It’s so great to see the world shifting towards becoming more traveler-centric… From the boom of remote work during the pandemic to higher-quality extended stay accommodation options (stay posted on this at @sojournserai), to digital nomad visas being rolled out in more & more countries & this recent, huge news being a shift towards more consumer-friendly skies! What a world we’re living in 😍🌍👩💻. There is no better time than now to embrace the slow travel lifestyle, packing a little peace of mind alongside our essentials! 🙌
