Sicilian Architecture!
My goodness - this island had me in awe with every new corner I turned... It is an incredible place, that is so rich in history and culture - with so many different dominations leaving their mark over the centuries. If you know me at all, you know that I love architecture and real estate. It’s one of my passions (travel being the other, of course - @sojournserai) and what my other business is centred around - @cityamihosts .
So traveling around Sicily was a pure thrill for all of the amazing buildings and cathedrals and sculptures... This is The Cathedral of Noto.
In its Baroque style with the golden limestone and Corinthian columns , it is a testament to the artistry of the 17th and 18th centuries. Climbing these steps really FEELS dramatic as you get closer to the main view. Imagine looking up at each ornate statue and intricate detail on the façade - just unreal. I knew Sicily was special, but didn’t expect such marvels to be so common - especially not so far south in Syracuse, Sicily - which is an absolute treasure in itself!
If you are in Europe, put this on your bucket list. You can travel to Sicily really cheaply most of the year, but especially out of the high season (flying into Palermo / Trapani), which is better as it gets veryyy hot in the summer months, so coming here March - May / September - November is perfect and is more cost effective too.
