A Short But Sweet Stay in Larnaca, Cyprus

If you’ve read former posts, you know that when my recent journey brought me to the enchanting city of Larnaca, Cyprus, as a stopover, I decided to seize the opportunity to explore this Mediterranean gem and make the most of my short stay.

Larnaca, with its rich history. Here’s how I made the most of my time.

**Day 1: Arrival and Acquaintance**

After settling in, I decided to go for a run along the iconic Finikoudes Beach (If you don’t know yet.. I love running in new places!). The warm breeze, and the soothing sound of waves crashing on the shore at sunset were the perfect welcome.

**Day 2: Exploring the Old Town**

I had work to do, so stopped for coffee and a few hours of work. It’s not all fun and games as a digital nomad. Life goes on, but I really love working from cafes around the world.

When I was done (or frankly tired of sitting), I wandered through the winding streets of Larnaca’s Old Town. It was a pleasant surprise to find boutique shops, and colorful bougainvillea-covered buildings.

I explored the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque, located on the shores of the mesmerizing Larnaca Salt Lake. The mosque’s serene atmosphere and the flamingos gracing the lake were a testament to the city’s harmonious blend of cultures and nature. As another added bonus, I also experienced a really cool pop up art event in a former castle!!

I didn’t have much time here, so it was time for dinner. Nothing like fresh seafood :yum:

As I packed my bags to continue my journey, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the unexpected detour to Larnaca. This stopover turned out to be an opportunity to embrace slow travel, immerse myself in the local culture, and appreciate the beauty of a city that often goes unnoticed by hurried travelers.
